Sphinx Organization Announces the 2021 Recipients of the
Sphinx Medals of Excellence and
$50,000 Career Grant!

The Sphinx Organization, the social justice organization dedicated to transforming
lives through the power of diversity in the arts, has announced the 2021 recipients of
the Sphinx Medals of Excellence: conductor Lina González-Granados, composer
Carlos Simon and oboist Titus Underwood.
The Sphinx Medal of Excellence is the highest honor bestowed by the Sphinx

with a $50,000 career grant, Sphinx annually awards the Medals of Excellence to
three artists who, early in their career, demonstrate artistic excellence, outstanding
work ethic, a spirit of determination, and an ongoing commitment to leadership and
their communities. The recipients each receive a $50,000 career grant, bestowed in
Washington D.C. at a private celebration co-hosted by The Kennedy Center in
Washington, D.C. The 10th annual Sphinx Medals of Excellence celebration will take
place on March 31, 2021.
